Our Work
The process
We invest in farmer groups to develop local supply chains for the school lunch program. Our model uses the safety net (school lunch program) as an anchor around which farmers can organize, access investment, and increase their own production—ultimately leading to the farmers taking on more and more ownership and increasing our sustainability.
The Process
#1 Farmer groups receive improved agricultural inputs, including seeds, fertilizer, tractor services, and irrigation equipment.
The Process
#2 Farmers use the inputs to increase their production.
The Process
#3 Farmers harvest their production, using some to feed their families, and selling the rest in markets to generate income for sustaining the school lunch program.
The Process
#4 Children in primary schools eat a hearty, locally-sourced, school lunch every day!
